We are committed to protecting your personal information and being transparent about how we use it.
Information We Collect
Depending on the features you use, we process account or guest identifiers, profile details you provide, learning progress, exercise responses, preferences and technical request data. Pronunciation processing is described below.
How We Use Your Data
We use your data to: (a) authenticate you and sync progress across devices, (b) personalise lessons based on what you have already completed, (c) deliver streak-saving notifications you have opted into, (d) detect bugs and crashes through aggregated diagnostic reports, (e) verify your premium subscription status with Apple and Google, and (f) respond to your support requests. We do not use your data to train AI models, and we do not sell or rent it.
Third-Party Services
Depending on the feature, service providers can receive the data needed for authentication, notifications, diagnostics, purchases or transcription. Providers include Google/Firebase, Apple, RevenueCat and the configured transcription service, such as OpenAI. Their own data-processing terms also apply.
Audio & Speech Recognition
Pronunciation can use device speech services or server transcription. In the server path, audio is uploaded to our backend and sent to the configured transcription provider, such as OpenAI. Device services may also use online processing. Do not assume recordings remain only on your device.
Data Retention
Retention differs by data type, feature and service provider. Server or provider processing should not be treated as device-only storage or a guarantee of immediate deletion. For retention details or a deletion request concerning your account, contact contact@masrilingo.com.
Cookies & Tracking
The website uses storage for preferences and authentication where needed. If Google Analytics is enabled, it can process usage and device data and use cookies. Mobile speech processing is described separately above.
Children's Privacy
Masri Lingo is not directed at children under 13 (or 16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us their information without parental consent, please email contact@masrilingo.com and we will delete the account immediately.
Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA)
Depending on your jurisdiction you may have the right to: access a copy of your data, correct inaccuracies, delete your account, restrict or object to processing, port your data to another service, and withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these rights, email contact@masrilingo.com from the address tied to your account; we respond within 30 days. EU/EEA residents may also lodge a complaint with their local supervisory authority.
How to Delete Your Account
In the app: open Profile → Settings → Account → Delete account. The deletion request is processed within 30 days; you will receive an email confirmation when complete. Alternatively email contact@masrilingo.com with the subject "Delete account" from your registered email and we will process it manually within 30 days.
International Data Transfers
Our backend is hosted in the EU; Firebase services may process data in the United States and other regions where Google operates. When data is transferred outside your country we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission and equivalent safeguards under UK GDPR.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy when laws change or we add new features that affect data handling. Material changes will be announced in the app at least 14 days before they take effect; the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the latest revision.
